Kids carnival in Terre-de-Haut

We arrived wednesday February 3rd in Terre-de-Haut. A very nice anchorage in between Guadeloupe to the north and Dominica to the south. When we set foot ashore the next morning all the schoolchildren were out in the streets for their carnival parade. A large group of dancing children, some parents and teachers and a band. In general these bands walk along and behind a small truck that carries the large and loud speakers and a genarator. In this case the guy playing the keyboard had placed his keyboard on the truck's tailgate and walked behind it while playing his music. The next best thing are always the guys that play the drums. Big ones and heavily used. Then we have a leading girl dancer to show the moves that the rest has to follow, in this case all the children. It was very obvious they all enjoyed it. When we sat down on a terrace close to the ferrydock we saw the musicians returning to the ferry. They came by boat from Guadeloupe so did some of the children. It are going to be very busy days for them with the carnival about to start.
